Grateful To Be Grateful

Grateful to be grateful, in times when waves
of discontent are washing the shores
of global continents, is to be grateful
for the gift of consciousness,
the ability to feel deep within one's core,
to know the art of right and wrong,
awareness as a state of mind and heart,
beyond duality;

To be grateful in times
when waves of discontent are washing
the shores of our limitations, is to be
grateful for the little things that still make
sense, like poetry, art, music and
good friends. Enriching the moment,
occupying a space with creative love,
care, and sonic touch.

To be grateful in times when waves
of discontent are washing the shores
of our Turtle Island, is to be grateful
for little things that still make sense,
like a homemade squash soup
on a winter's day, good conversations,
sharing insights into the interrelationship
of the arts and all there is,
is the magnificent transparency
shining through the fabric of life,
holding us in gratefulness,
for every day is a gift.

Petra

In the beautiful country called Jordan
there is a jewel named Petra

Like a beautiful woman
she hides her heart and soul

She is not easy to reach
but nothing so precious ever is

A man must first traverse a winding gorge
that descends deeper and deeper
into his own heart and soul

As he descends
he is illuminated by an infinite array
of color and design
that only a woman can create

If he closes his eyes
and opens his heart
he can feel the beat of her heart
and the light of her soul

And if she is willing
and he is ready
she will permit him
to touch her heart and soul

And they will become one

Expanding Boundaries

Seems one of the changes from my 3 weeks in Egypt and Jordan is that I have returned with a desire to listen to new music and new artists. Breaking out of the 60-70s rock and roll funk I have been in for so long.

Listening to playlists of mellow love songs, Mozart and indigenous flute music is very relaxing and a nice change.

Always nice to expand our boundaries and taste, and hear, more of what life has to offer.

Egypt and Jordan

Just returned from 2 weeks in Egypt and 5 days in Jordan. An experience beyond words. I was with a great group of people led by the team from The Khemit School of Ancient Mysticism.

My thanks to Patricia, Yousef, Mohamed. You are beautiful.

We were 25 seekers in Egypt and 10 in Jordan. New friendships were made that will last a lifetime.
